Having become quite rare, the PP9 battery is still available from Battery Force. About the size of a fist, its quite a lump and used mostly in "classic" equipment. The most common name for this battery is "PP9", but we called it a 6F100 (the IEC standard name) because so many people order this rather exotic battery incorrectly when they really need a much smaller battery.

| The PP9 battery is a prime candidate for confusion with the much more popular PP3 battery. Both are rated at 9V, but the battery commonly called "a 9 volt battery" is the PP3, not this one. The PP9 is about the size of a grown man's fist, weighs nearly a pound, and is used in torches or classic radios. If you need a battery for some modern eletronic equipment, its very unlikely that this the battery you need. | |
