Low Self Discharge Batteries

Low self-discharge, also referred to as Ready To Use rechargeable batteries work very much like other NiMH rechargeable batteries. But they have a number of key advantages:

• They come pre-charged, which means you can use them like ordinary single-use batteries straight out of the pack;
• Because they are optimised to retain their charge while not in use, they will still have around 80% of their original charge when stored for a year; self-discharge will have caused a normal NiMH battery to be all but empty.

For general purpose use, these batteries are the ideal replacement for sinlge-use batteries. They can be stored for extended periods. Because you can recharge them, you're helping reduce waste and you're saving lots of money on rechargeable batteries. For best performance, low-self-discharge batteries prefer a moderate charge speed; they are not suitable for super fast chargers, such as 15-minute chargers. For best performance, we recommend one of our chargers below: they are the ideal companion for ready-to-use batteries.
